“Fight For This Famous Club”
“Clyde is a famous club and the players have to fight for it now. The club is fighting for its life in this division and the players need to recognise that.” Those were the stark words of Clyde manager John Brown when he spoke exclusively to the Official Website, following today’s press conference when Andy Goram was officially welcomed to the club.
“Andy has gone down a storm,” John said. “David Hutton and Peter Cherrie immediately appreciated his enthusiasm and he will be a great
boost to the club. If the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm of the greatest ever Scottish goalkeeper doesn’t rub off on the two of them then I will be very disappointed.”
John then turned his attention on tomorrow’s game away to Morton, a match in which he will be on the touchline for the first time as The Bully Wee’s boss:-
“We may have one or two fresh faces in the starting eleven. The squad now allows us to do that but regardless of who is chosen everyone knows what is required. We are looking for big characters who demand the ball and when they don’t have it will chase and harass until they get it.
“If the game requires them to roll up their sleeves and work then they have to do it. If they need to pass and move the ball then they have to add a cutting edge to our play. Simply the players have to work. To get anything out of this game you have to work. If the players turn up like last week then we will get turned over. I’m looking for the players who have the hunger and desire that this club deserves.
“I base my team selections on how the players do each day. It is not about turning up for an hour and a half and going home. We are in this together and the more time we spend with each other the better it will be. In the days and weeks ahead we will be fighting for each other’s corner and that starts tomorrow. We need to start getting three points now and that is our aim against Morton.”
