McKay's the Limit!

Mon, 25th Feb 2008 7:00pm

Dave McKay, the club's latest signing, spoke to following his encouraging debut for The Bully Wee against Dunfermline at the weekend. He explained how his move to Broadwood came about:-

"I was playing with Drumchapel and Swinton Amateurs but I was also selected for Scotland Amateurs. Clyde watched me play for the Scottish side and asked me to come in for a trial.

"The first week went well so I was asked to come back for a second week, when I played for the reserves against Hamilton. I managed to score two in that game and then I was asked to sign for the rest of the season. I'm in training full-time with the boys now and it's going well."

Dave spoke about his introduction to the Clyde team on Saturday:-

"Coming to the First Division is a big jump and I found it much harder and faster. I was playing two amateur matches every weekend though, so I feel that my fitness levels are good enough to cope.

"The result was disappointing. We dominated the second half and were unlucky not to get a draw but mistakes in the first half cost us. The gaffer told us that any slight mistake would be punished and that's what happened."

The striker was paired with fellow new arrival Pat Clarke in The Bully Wee's attack and he was quick to praise the goalscorer:-

"Hopefully I can form a partnership with Pat in the coming weeks. He's a cracking player with an eye for goal and he can also hold the ball up."

Dave finished by outlining his determination to be a success at the club:-

"My former team mates came to watch me on Saturday and they are delighted for me, as are my family. Anyone that plays football wants to play at the highest level they can and I've been given a chance. I'm going to try my best to take it. I'm trying to win a contract for next season and hopefully I can show enough between now and May to do that."
