Colin's Call

Fri, 3rd Aug 2007 9:00pm

Colin Hendry spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk on the eve of the new season..."We are as organised and prepared as we can be and we are ready for the challenge ahead. I spoke to the players this afternoon and they can't wait for the game to start. We know it's a special day for Morton and they deserve praise for being promoted as Champions but we can't linger on our opponents.

"The game will be brought to us and we have to react in the right way, stamp our authority on the match and concentrate on ourselves in order to get the result we are all looking to achieve."

Colin continued, "I've read some of the comments about the club and the players. Rejection is a big thing. I've nothing against those who like to sit behind desks but rejection is even tougher when it is to do with your physical ability and something that you have worked all your life to do.

"For young players it can go two ways; they can be devastated, let their fitness go and fall by the wayside or react positively. At Clyde, we have a group of young men who have responded brilliantly and are eager to demonstrate their talent as the real action begins.

"In an ideal world we would have had a few more matches but we are in a reasonable position and very soon it will be time for the talking to stop. As I've said before we have an excellent core. Many of those who are viewed as young have got considerable experience under their belts."

Despite signing four players yesterday, Colin emphasised that there is more to come. "There is definitely scope to add to the squad and the way we have done things means there is space to manoeuvre and change the squad as well.

"The transfer window does not close tonight and I'm certain August will be a busy month on and off the park.

"Tomorrow will be special without a doubt and all of the team are looking forward to the backing of our supporters. It is you the fan who can inspire us further as the competitive action returns. So I look forward to seeing and hearing you all at Cappielow."
