Why Me?!

Confessions of an Edinburgh Clyde Supporter (20/1/2007: Ross County at Broadwood)

For the benefit of my own fragile self, all talk of Saturday’s performance will be avoided in the following article!!

One thing that I will say is: with all the disruption in the week before the game, with players leaving, meant to be leaving and according to Pie & Bovril signing for teams that just aren’t very good really… Saturday’s result was bound to happen. The cloud over Broadwood on Saturday was not just a rainy one!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but everyday of this transfer window I have woken up terrified to see the newspapers. Sometimes it’s just too much! Revelations that our star players are going to quadruple their wages by signing for East Stirling seemed to mock us from the pages we browsed!!

Come Wednesday though; and Saturday is a distant memory!! The result was just a one-off, that won’t happen again. And even better news! The website announces that Neil McGregor has put pen to paper on a 30 month contract. How did this happen!? Surely Clyde are a rudderless ship? Nobody on the board has a clue how to run a football club and the manager is a joke?! Nonsense. As frustrating as it is to be a Clyde supporter at times like these, we must realise that the people behind the scenes are the reason that the good ship Clyde is still afloat.

And what of Joe Miller? It’s hard to say really. Performances have been incredibly inconsistent. We can be very good; but also very bad. In my opinion, we will survive this season and next season will be the time to judge him. With a proper pre-season behind him and the chance to change the squad around with players coming and going, maybe the doubters will have to change their views, or maybe not?!

At the end of the day though, if we all focus on being Clyde SUPPORTERS and get behind a group of players who have done so much in a short time then we will prosper!

Oh, and 1st of February can’t come quick enough!
