Clyde Work In Progress!
It’s been a busy day at Broadwood today as the club continues to prepare for this Saturday’s Tennants Scottish Cup Tie against Gretna. However Joe Miller has also had one eye on next season as he plans ahead for the next campaign.
The majority of the first team squad have been discussing terms as they talk about remaining at the Bully Wee for season 2007/08. Steve Masterton, Craig McKeown, Dougie Imrie and Michael McGowan are already committed to the club for next season and Miller is keen to add to that number very soon.
“Discussions with the guys have been very encouraging. They are all still young and learning their trade. The players are all pretty happy here and are getting a good platform to play on at Clyde. But now is the time to get things bedded down here and get the squad signed up for next season.
“Obviously we can’t stop other clubs talking to the players but I hope to be able to announce things in the near future. I would hope that the outcome of the current contract talks will demonstrate the ambition that all of us working here have for the club. The talks with the players to date have all been extremely positive.”
The exception though has been Paul McHale who today exercised his right to sign a pre-contract agreement with fellow First Division club Dundee. However Clyde have not agreed terms with Dundee to allow McHale to join the Dens Park club early. Paul therefore remains an important part of the first team squad as it prepares for the Scottish Cup and the remainder of the First Division campaign.
