It's the eve of the new season and the Clyde players are keen to get started with the real action. It has been a good week's training for the squad and all are eager to get into the starting eleven.

Unfortunately it looks unlikely that either Stevie Masterton or Craig McKeown will win their fitness race to be available for the season's starter at St Johnstone but there is better news on Neil McGregor. The influential defender is confident of being ready to take his place in the centre of the defence.

Eddie Malone is suspended for this game and St Johnstone will be without Martin Hardie Kevin Rutkiewicz and Steven Anderson for the same reason.

The website understands that the club is actively pursuing a number of signing targets to add depth to the squad, as well as experience and strength up front. This may lead to some speculation and as ever discuss that on the message boards.

However the club will announce signings first to the fans through www.clydefc.co.uk when and only when deals with players are officially concluded and the registration is completed with the appropriate football authorities.
