Clyde V Queen Of The South Preview

By Gordon Thomson
Fri, 26th Aug 2005 12:00am

Graham Roberts has reported no fresh injury problems for tomorrow's game against Queen of the South. Only Romauld Bouadji (pictured left) is missing from the First Team squad.

The central defender is back in training and comfortable running but is experiencing some pain when kicking the ball. Romauld appears however to be on target for coming back into contention in the next couple of weeks.

Clyde-Queen of the South matches are nearly always attractive affairs and hopefully tomorrow will be no exception. Queens have had a difficult start to the season and will be desperate to get points on the board.

Queens' forward Derek Lyle is suspended for Saturday's match at Broadwood after his red card against Dundee. Another influential player, John O'Neill, is facing a race against time to make the game. The goalscoring midfielder is struggling with a hamstring injury with manager Iain Scott faced with the dilemma of whether or not to risk him. Better news for the Doonhamers is the return of defender Stephen Payne to the squad.

Clyde manager Graham Roberts is of course equally keen for maximum points and noted the psychological boost of getting three points prior to the mini break. The CIS cup win at Montrose kick-started the season and tomorrow represents the chance to keep the momentum going.

The break will also give forward Tom Brighton the opportunity to rest. The striker who has made a great impact since being introduced into the team will be available for tomorrow. Brighton however has been carrying a minor knee problem and following his consultant's orders he will sit out training for the next fourteen days. Unfortunately that will mean Brighton missing out again from representing Scotland in the forthcoming U21 games. Clyde have kept the SFA fully informed throughout.

Meanwhile the Club confirmed today that an English Premiership side have approached Clyde to discuss the possibility of young midfielder Craig Bryson travelling South for a few days training. Watch this space for official news of further developments.
