Man Utd Are Coming!

Mon, 25th Apr 2005 12:00am

Manchester United are coming to Broadwood! That was the sensational news that Clyde Director Dr. Frank Dunn was able to confirm to the website late tonight.

Thanks to the good offices of Sir Alex Ferguson and ex-Clyde Director Sean Fallon, and with no little help from Frank Dunn himself, the Red Devils will be coming to Cumbernauld on 16 July.

This pre-season friendly to end all pre-season friendlies will also be the third in a series of challenge matches between the clubs ...and so far the Bully Wee has won both!

On 29 September 1954 United came to Shawfield for a floodlight friendly match and Clyde won 4-1. Thirteen months later, and on their way to a Championship win, the Manchester club returned to Rutherglen and on that occasion fared much better, containing Cup-holders Clyde to a mere 2-1 win!

At least on their second visit the Old Trafford boys knew what they were up against. A month earlier Clyde had traveled to Highbury and defeated Arsenal 2-1.

Will it be third time lucky for Fergie's boys? There's only one way to find out. 16 July; Broadwood; be there!
