Robert Hannah Is The New General Manager

Clyde today announced the appointment of Robert Hannah (pictured left) as General Manager of the Broadwood club.

Hannah, who began his footballing career with Celtic in the early seventies, is further evidence of the rebuilding going on behind the scenes at Broadwood.

Acting Chairman John Taylor revealed the background to the announcement..”We have been actively looking for someone of Robert’s calibre to take over the role previously occupied by David Mackinnon before his move to Kilmarnock. Robert, as well as having played the game at the senior level, also has a very sound and impressive business background. He will be responsible for delivery of the strategy agreed at Board level and will be the first point of contact for a range of projects planned to revitalise the club. For example, Robert is currently working in partnership with Celtic in planning events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1955 Scottish Cup final between the two sides.”.

Hannah, who was almost signed as a player by the then Bully Wee boss Billy McNeill in 1976 recalls the situation. “I was approached by Clyde at that time, but was well through negotiations with Ayr United by that stage. However, I’m delighted to be involved with the club, even if it’s thirty years after the first approach”.

John Taylor also confirmed the appointment of current board member Jim Murray (pictured right) to the post as Managing Director. “While this cannot be a full-time appointment, Jim has shown an energy and enthusiasm in his nine months with the Club that augurs well for the future. He will work closely with Robert to co-ordinate and support the directors in meeting their respective objectives”

Both appointments take effect from Monday 24 January 2005.
