Chairman’S Comments…

Acting chairman John Taylor took some time out from his busy schedule to speak to the Clyde website and bring Clyde fans up to date on the latest events behind the scenes at Broadwood.

However John couldn’t shed any further light on when his tenure as acting chairman would be coming to an end but he confirmed that the club was hopeful of making an appointment sooner rather than later to this strategic post.

“As a board we have internally restructured and each director has an individual remit and accountability for specific tasks. For example Jim Murray (pictured below) is the director responsible for Planning and Commercial activities. This distribution of roles has helped considerably”.

The workload though continues to be heavy with lengthy board meetings each week but John is positive and modestly downplays his own contribution as he focuses on his fellow board members: “The commitment by individuals is tremendous. Like the majoraty of clubs from the SPL downwards, we need to continue to be careful but we are moving in the right direction”.

John continues to be cautious: “Without a doubt we have to continue to work hard to raise finance and need to ensure that activities such as the Sportsmen’s Dinner in November are well supported. It’s great that Craig Brown and Dougie Donnelly are supporting the Trust with this initiative”.

“We’ve appointed Jack Rolland as Commercial Manager and he is using his experience to improve our income streams,” John added. “As part of this we are soon to announce the return of replica shirts being stocked at ASDA, many fans have been asking for this and with ASDA’s assistance we will make this happen in plenty of time before Christmas”.

John who has edited the award-winning Clyde View magazine for many years enjoys staying out of the limelight but he couldn’t hide his pride on events on the pitch and the difference that the performances have made to the club.

“It has been a real encouragement to us all and Billy and the players deserve tremendous credit for the positive start we have made. Our job is to give him the necessary support and we are all working to this goal”.
