Jr Talks Plainly To Fans

Fri, 5th Mar 2004 12:00am
Club Captain Jack Ross tonight insisted he is still fully committed to winning the First Division Championship with Clyde. Speaking after comments attributed to him were published in today's press, Jack was at great pains to point out his heart is very much still at Broadwood:-

"I would love nothing more than to win the title with Clyde. It would be a tremendous achievement for the management, the players and the fans if we could lift the trophy come May.

"I have been at the club for five seasons now and have played over 170 games and my commitment to the club is still as strong as it's ever been."

Jack was also keen to stress that being club captain is still a great honour and sometimes there is a need for him to be a spokesman for the dressing room:-

"As captain, sometimes it is my role to speak on behalf of the players. Obviously fans will be aware that even winning the league would not mean automatic promotion with the rules surrounding entry to the SPL. Even if the last stand does go up there is no guarantee that it would give us the right to go up to the SPL... if we were to win the league of course.

"However, the players are determined to win the league and we will all be fighting to ensure that happens to give the fans something to celebrate.

"Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to lift the trophy as Clyde captain."
