Clyde V Ross County Preview

Fri, 13th Feb 2004 12:00am

Tuesday's news that Broadwood will be upgraded to SPL compliant level over the coming months pleased nobody more than Alan Kernaghan ahead of tomorrow's visit of Ross County to Broadwood:-

"The news finally answers the question of whether or not the stadium will be up to standard if we do win the league. It's all systems go now and it's for me to make sure the players do their job.

"I would say the pressure has been on the players ever since I started the job because I've constantly stated that we want to be in the Premier League. To be fair to them they have taken that on board and done all they can do, they came close last season and are in a great position so far this season. All it needs now is more of the same."

Kevin Fotheringham, who completes his suspension tomorrow, and John Potter are the only two players unavailable for the match, on which the manager said:-

"We have to perform yet again. The players have been quite ratty and argumentative this week and in particular this morning, which is down to the frustration of postponed matches over the last 3 or 4 weeks. They are eager and can't wait to get going again.

"Ross County gave us a good chasing for at least an hour of our last meeting at Broadwood and pushed us as hard as anyone has at home so we know how tough it's going to be. We'll have a good strong bench as well as the team and we're looking to address the problem we have with starting matches slowly.

"The next three games make up a crucial period for us. Something will give soon and we have to make sure it isn't us."
