Homesbook Factoring Caplan

Memory Photo #2

Photo number 2 in the series shows the announcement of the sponsorship deal with BOC, which made Clyde the first ever team in Scottish Football to have a shirt sponsor…

Clyde became the first Scottish Club to display a sponsor on their jersys when the local British Oxygen Company teamed up with Clyde for the 1979/80 season. Although the photo shows Commercial Manager John Donnelly with a model wearing the new top, it was actually manager Craig Brown who secured the sponsorship deal. This allowed Clyde to re introduce a reserve side and there was even a pre season tournament for the B.O.C. trophy which was won by Ayr United. The deal lasted for just one season.
