Next Away Day: Arbroath

Wed, 5th Feb 2003 12:00am

The Clyde support are hoping to make the ever popular (if slightly lengthy) trip to Arbroath on Saturday, so here is some useful info to help you along the way...

WEATHER REPORT

Rain and a rise in temperature is expected from tomorrow onwards, so there is still a fair degree of hope that the game will go ahead despite the recent heavy snow. Gayfield's seaside location should also help.

HOW TO GET THERE

Car: Follow the road to Dundee, then take the A92 (Coast Road). On entering Arbroath pass under the railway line and the ground is on the right hand side. Journey time about the 2 hour mark. Free parking next to the ground in Queen's Drive.

Rail: Glasgow Queen Street to Arbroath, departs (and arrives)... 10.42am (12.19pm), 11.42am (1.19pm), 12.42pm (2.19pm). Return journey... 5.30pm (7.15pm), 6.47pm (8.32pm), 7.30pm (9.15pm). The ground is a 15 minute walk from the station. Apex Return cost £22, Day return cost £26.20.

SUPPORTERS' BUSES

Two buses are yet again relying on the weather...

Castlemilk Branch (0141 569 3625 - Eric Steel): Murray Square 10.45am, Castlemilk Drive 11.00am, Clyde Club 11.10am, Muslin Street 11.20am. £9 adults, £6 reduced. Second child goes free with every adult.

Glasgow Branch (0141 771 1385 - Rod MacKenzie): Millenium Hotel George Square 10.30am, Broadwood 11.00am. £8 adults, £5 reduced.

ADMISSION

Main Stand - Adult £11, Concession £6.
Terracing - Adult £10, Concession £5.
Parent and Child - £12

Away fans enter by Queen's Drive.

DISABLED INFO

Wheelchairs: Access via Enclosure-West End of Stand.

REFRESHMENTS

Right opposite the ground is The Tuttie Neuk which always welcomes footie fans, it also serves good traditional fare. As does the excellent Smugglers down by the harbour, whereas in town the Corn Exchange comes recommended. Smokies readily available.

CONDITIONS

View: Choice of views here - Main Stand and far side terracing provide good (if low) viewpoints, with the option of standing behind the goal also available.

Atmosphere: Small supports can create a decent atmosphere under the shed, much like Douglas Park.

Facilities: Not the best but The Red Lichties, unlike certain others, are at least accomadating. New Main Stand is much improved, and cover is available on far side terracing. Toilets leave a lot to be desired, but look out for free pies!
