Clyde Safc 1 V 1 Broadwood Clyde Safc

By Brian McLeavy (Clyde SAFC)
Tue, 8th Oct 2002 12:00am

Clyde's league campaign began with a derby game against old rivals Broadwood at Hamilton Palace. Clyde went into this game with a depleted squad due to unexpected call off's and injuries, however Alex Cranston and Stevie Russell made a welcome return to allow us to get eleven men on the park.

The game began in the normal "hundred miles an hour fashion" with Hunter putting a snapshot just past the post from the edge of the box. However, Broadwood broke the deadlock a few minutes before the interval following some hesitation in the Clyde rearguard.

Half-time 0-1

Clyde began the second half more determined and soon took control of the game. They could have and probably should have equalised following a great move from McKay and McLeavy on the right however, Alan Kennedy's shot from just outside the box went wide. Clyde laid siege to the Broadwood goal and it came as no surprise when Marcus slammed home a "Zidane like" equaliser. Hunter then had a great chance to cover himself in glory a few minutes later but the ball just wouldn't drop for him (his words not mine). (And I stick by them!! - SH)

Full-time 1-1
