Jamie Can’T Believe Fans’ Reaction

Jamie Mitchell admitted in today’s News of the World that he is shocked at the reaction of some Clyde fans to his move to Partick Thistle.

“I couldn’t believe some of the things that were said about me,” Jamie said. “After all, I’d done my best for Clyde but I was out-of-contract and entitled to look after my best interests. I think the fact that it’s Thistle I’ve gone to has made matters worse. There has always been a rivalry between the clubs but I didn’t realise how high feelings ran until now. It’s like a mini-version of the Old Firm and some Clyde fans obviously feel I deserve the Mo Johnston treatment.”

Jamie is grateful to John Lambie for giving him the chance of SPL football, and feels his high standard of performance for Clyde against Thistle last season clinced the move.

“I had a really good game against Thistle towards the end of last season when we won 2-1. I believe that sealed the deal because John Lambie stepped up interest after that. It’s a huge complement for me to be joining an SPL club when you think about how many players are scrambling around looking for clubs.”

Jags boss Lambie is also delighted with the deal.

“There are a number of very good players in the First Division who are on my shopping list,” he told reporters this week, “and Jamie was right at the top of it. He was excellent against us last season.”
