Hide Match Report

Clyde's fine run of form continued at Broadwood this afternoon, as a double from Scott Ferguson helped to earn a Ladbrokes League 2 victory over East Fife.

Barry Ferguson named the same starting line-up following the club's last match - three weeks ago at Berwick - but Sean Higgins and Chris Mitchell returned from injury and suspension respectfully, to take slots on the bench.

The first chance of the match was created by The Bully Wee, but Scott Ferguson was denied by onrushing visiting goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow and the rebound was eventually put wide by Scott Linton.

As Clyde continued to dominate the first half, the opening goal of the match arrived after 34 minutes. Chris Smith's dangerous cross from the left wing took a slight touch in the box and Ferguson arrived at the back post to smash the ball into the net.

The Fifers pushed for a leveller before the break and came close from a corner, but Linton was in the right place to clear the ball off the line.

In the second half, East Fife increased their share of possession but Clyde continued to defend well and pose a threat on the break. David Gormley's superb volley was pushed over the bar by Goodfellow and minutes later the 'keeper pulled off another great save, tipping Ferguson's 20-yard shot onto the post.

As the match entered the last ten minutes, The Fifers carved out a great chance as Nathan Austin was put through on John Gibson, but the striker's effort drifted past the post.

With 84 minutes on the clock, the result was made safe thanks to a spectacular second goal for Ferguson. The winger collected the ball around 30 yards from goal and found the top corner of the net with a stunning shot.

In injury time, Gormley almost added some gloss to the final scoreline, but he was blocked by a defender from close range.
