Hide Match Report

Annan Athletic maintained their fourth place position in League Two this afternoon, after securing a narrow victory over The Bully Wee at Galabank.

Following last week's win over East Fife, Barry Ferguson named the same starting line-up and substitutes.

The home side started the match on top and took the lead after just four minutes. Some slack Clyde defending led to Alan Martin making a save, but the rebound was fired into the net by David Hopkirk.

After a difficult opening period, The Bully Wee started to get into the match and that led to an equalising goal on 32 minutes. Scott Durie was the provider and David Sinclair found the net from the edge of the box to register his first goal for the club.

As the match moved into the second half, Clyde continued to be in control of the general play but with a shortage of clear-cut chances being created.

A good chance did fall to Brian McQueen - once again in a forward role - but his volley missed the target from close range.

On the hour mark, a rare Annan attack led to a corner and Josh Todd headed home to make it 2-1 after being left unmarked in the box.

Martin then pulled off a superb save to keep the match alive, with Clyde's best chance to earn a point coming when Scott McManus tried an overhead kick from McQueen's knock-down, but the ball went straight into the arms of youngster Jake Gemmill in the home goal.
