Hide Match Report

Clyde recorded a fine away win over East Fife at Bayview Stadium this afternoon, thanks to a first half strike by Scott McManus.

Following last week's cup victory over Turriff United, Brian McQueen returned to the starting line-up, replacing the injured Craig Halkett.

It was the hosts that started the match strongly and Alan Martin was forced into action on more than one occasion, with the 'keeper proving up to the task each time, especially when saving a curling effort by Kevin Smith.

However, after weathering the early pressure, Clyde began to come into the match and went on to take the lead before half-time. Andy Gibson's free-kick found McQueen at the back post and his knock down fell to McManus, who made no mistake from close range.

The Bully Wee's overall performance was much more assured after the break and Scott Durie came close to adding a second goal, but his volley went wide of the target.

With 20 minutes left to play, East Fife's task became more difficult when Ewan Moyes was shown a second yellow card for a block challenge on the advancing Euan Smith.

Smith had a late chance to finish the match off but he couldn't quite get enough contact on substitute David Sinclair's low cross, before The Fifers best opportunity to equalise passed when Martin comfortably collected a downward header by Jon McShane.
