Recap
The Bully Wee suffered a highly disappointing defeat to East Stirling today, with the home side deserving of their three-goal victory despite Clyde being wasteful in front of goal on several occasions.
Jim Duffy made two changes to the team that faced Queen’s Park last week, with Stef McCluskey and John Sweeney replacing Steven Masterton and John Neill.
The first good chance of the match fell to Clyde, when McCluskey did well to volley the ball towards goal from inside the box; however, the home ‘keeper made a fine save.
It was The Shire that took the lead though, when Kevin Turner took advantage of a mistake by Craig Wedderburn and placed the ball past Jamie Barclay from close range. They went on to double their lead before half-time when more poor defending by Clyde led to Paul Quinn having an easy task to stroke the ball home from inside the box.
However, the half-time score should have different, as three clear-cut chances were missed by Bryan Gilfillan, Stuart McColm and Gavin Brown.
The Clyde support were expecting a reaction in the second half but it was the home side that raised their game, looking the better side for the majority of the play.
In injury time, they sealed the victory with a third goal as substitute Joe Savage found space at the edge of the box and found the bottom corner of the net.
