County were far from being out of it, and continued to more than capable of getting themselves right back into the match, but Clyde held firm until the break.

The Bully Wee had the ball in the net again three minutes after the restart but Alex Williams' effort was ruled out for offside. The same player should have scored a second in sixty-five minutes when Tom Brighton, once again the provider, sent him clean through with a defence-splitting pass. Williams’ effort clipped the ball over Garden only to see it come back off a post.

It was still anyone’s game as County failed to take two good chances inside a minute.

David Winters had only Paul Jarvie to beat from twelve yards but fired straight at the legs of his former Dundee United team mate, then the former United striker rose to meet a deep cross but sent his header into the side netting.

In the dying seconds Clyde’s Alex Williams and County's David Cowan were booked for a scuffle on the touchline. Then Referee Stuart Dougal showed a red to Stuart Taylor following a wild challenge on Eddie Malone on the halfway line.

It was a card-waiving finale totally out of line with the rest of a match in which Ross County never lost their determination to continue their excellent start to the season but found themselves matched with equally determined opponents.
