A point at Firhill is no bad thing considering Thistle were desperately trying to rekindle their season. Some media 'experts' have said the encounter was dire and although it may have lacked clear chances it was not the worst game you'll ever see by a long way.

Clyde decided to go 4-4-2, with both Bollan and Malone playing on the left and the inclusion of Arbuckle's pace on the right. It meant that young Bryson had to be content with a place on the bench.

With so much at stake for the Jags, they began with more zip and purpose with Mitchell in particular trying to make a point to his former team. Nothing much troubled Halliwell though and with Clyde's first attack the ball was in the net but disallowed for offside. The ball was flighted to the far post where Wilson challenged for the ball. It broke between keeper and defender and Wilson tapped the ball away only to the linesman's flag raised. We can only assume he saw something when the ball was first struck as it's hard to fathom what Wilson did wrong.

Thistle continued to see a lot of possession though, but thankfully they tended to play in front of Clyde rather than through and behind. Conway then was sent clear and raced towards goal with Harty in support. He chose to shoot himself and when that was parried to Arbuckle, about twenty yards out, his drive was cleared off the line to safety. A couple of more shots straight at Halliwell and the was the first half action over.

The half took its toll on Clyde though as Gibson, Malone and Bollan were all booked and hence treading a fine line for the rest of the match.

With Conway having a hard time up front, Wilford was introduced at the start of the second half to give more of a physical presence. Clyde began to see more possession and Wilford's header was tipped over the bar by Arthur. Gibson was also set up by Harty but shot weakly into the arms of the keeper.

Thistle then decided to go route one and brought on the giant One. His size certainly troubled the Clyde defence but fortunately his finishing needs worked upon. He did however set up Escales in the box and, with the goal gaping, Halliwell's shin saved the day. Clyde's last chance came with a run and shot from substitute Walker but in keeping with the rest of the match it was wide of the target.

Clyde may not exactly be free-scoring but to compensate Haillwell, Potter and Wilson look a formidable defence. If the midfield can start providing Harty with some real chances then we may see a different but equally successful Bully Wee.

Clyde Star Ratings (*****)

Halliwell ***** Another clean sheet with a crucial save late on.
Mensing **** Stuck to a difficult task well and kept away from Mr.Clark.
Bollan *** Reasonable performance but needs to sharpen up after a spell out.
Wilson **** Another fine shift alongside the captain.
Potter ***** Intervened at the important moment more than a few times.
Sheridan *** Not his customary best but an important contribution.

Gibson *** A difficult game after receiving an early booking.
Conway ** Missed a great chance and overall couldn't find last week's form.
Malone *** Still looks to have more in his locker but decent again.
Harty **** A very hard-working performance that deserved better.

Wilford *** Encouraging signs from the big man during his forty-five minutes.
Walker ** Very unlucky with a late run and shot.
