The Bully Wee secured an excellent three points in Ladbrokes League 2 this afternoon, with a dominant performance at Borough Briggs.

Danny Lennon named the same starting line-up following last week's draw with Stirling Albion.

Clyde started the match strongly and John Rankin's free-kick was deflected wide, before Kristoffer Syvertsen came close with a header.

At the other end, Craig Beattie put a header past the post following a free-kick delivery into the box.

After 13 minutes, a nice move in midfield led to Clyde winning a penalty. Rankin's clever touch found Syvertsen and the Norwegian played in David Goodwillie, who was cynically brought down from behind by Rabin Omar. The striker got up and calmly scored from the spot.

As The Bully Wee continued to dominate, Mark Lamont crashed a shot off the bar from 25 yards out and Syvertsen couldn't get into the right position to divert the rebound home.

As the chances continued to come, Rankin had a sight of goal, but he couldn't get a clean shot away.

However, the same player did play a big part in Clyde's second goal which arrived a couple of minutes later. The midfielder's dangerous free-kick was met by Beattie, but the ex-International could only divert it into his own net.

The situation then got even worse for Elgin. Following a dispute over a throw-in, JP McGovern showed aggression towards Ray Grant and the referee was forced to show a red card.

Before half-time, Goodwillie had a great chance to make it three but his shot was blocked from close range, before Brian Cameron blasted the ball over for the home side.

The second half had less action as The Bully Wee looked to use the numerical and scoreline advantage to control the flow of the play and see out the victory.

There were still some half chances to increase the lead though, with Goodwillie and substitute Ross Lyon both threatening.

With ten minutes left, Ally Love - shortly after coming on - took away any doubt about the outcome when he headed the ball into the net from close range, after Lyon and Goodwillie showed determination to keep the ball alive.

In the final minute, Elgin got a consolation goal when Shane Sutherland met a cross at the back post, but it was only a small blip in an excellent overall away display by Clyde.
