John Gemmell Joins Clyde

The club is pleased to announce the deadline day signing of forward John Gemmell from Albion Rovers.

John has joined The Bully Wee initially until the end of the season, with a view to a longer stay.

The 31-year-old brings plenty of experience to Clyde, following spells at various SPFL clubs including Queen’s Park, Cowdenbeath and Stenhousemuir, and has scored well over 100 goals in his career to date.

A delighted Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website tonight after finalising the deal:-

“John brings something different to our forward line and he’ll give David Gormley the bit of help he needs. He’s very experienced but still at a good age and he was always a handful when we played against him last season.

“We’ve been offered a number of players recently but I didn’t feel like they fitted the bill. John offers something that not many players do, especially at our level.

“He was desperate to come to Clyde and that’s something that I always like when speaking to a player. I’m really excited about him coming in and what he can bring to the team.”

The Clyde boss also confirmed that, following today’s other addition of Scott McMann on loan from Hamilton Accies, he would continue to work on a further deal to bring a midfielder to the club on loan in the coming days.
