After becoming manager of the club, John McCormack moved quickly to bring David in as his second in command.
The pair had been acquainted with each other throughout their careers, leaving John in no doubt that he was the right man for the job.
David's career began as a youngster at Oxford United, before he returned home to start a seven-year stretch at Easter Road. Spells at five other clubs followed, as he went on to play for another nine seasons.
The 40-year-old already has ample coaching experience, with Gretna and then as Alex Rae's assistant at Dundee.
