Hepburn Backing Clyde

Jamie Hepburn, SNP MSP for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, met with Clyde chairman John Alexander recently and has already contacted North Lanarkshire Council to voice his concerns. The MSP has written to NLC and sought clarification on what assistance the Council is undertaking to facilitate the retention of Clyde FC in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area.

Jamie commented to the official website, "I met with John a week or so ago and had a general discussion on a number of issues relating to the club.

“Clyde is a club that, after the financial troubles of a few years ago, is now financially stable. Under a new board it has restructured itself and is Scotland’s first fully democratic Community Interest Company with one-member-one-vote representation.

"This year, North Lanarkshire Leisure Trust and Clyde Football Club mutually agreed that Clyde will move away from Broadwood Stadium at some time in the future. Following my meeting with the Chairman I have very real concerns about Clyde remaining in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area.

"I believe Clyde Football Club is an asset that the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth community cannot afford to lose."
