Once more Clyde were left to rue a string of missed chances as St Mirren displayed a ruthlessness in front of goal that saw the champions elect secure a crucial 1-0 win at Broadwood to extend their lead to eight points in Division One.
St Mirren had goalkeeper Tony Bullock to thank as he produced a fantastic performance to deny the Bully Wee. The first culprit was Tom Brighton who when put through on goal was denied by a one handed stop by the Englishman.
The ex County and Dundee United keeper broke Clyde hearts again when Alex Williams capitalised on hesitancy in the Saints defence to race through on goal but with Dougie Imrie waiting to pounce the striker chose to shoot for glory himself and once more Bullock was the hero.
St Mirren had a series of half chances in a game that flowed from end to end but it was Clyde, driven on by a courageous display by young midfielder Craig Bryson, who again came closest when a Williams header was tipped to safety by the inspired Bullock.
St Mirren took the lead when Charlie Adam headed home Iain Anderson's 72nd minute corner to grab the points and the league leaders showed all their experience by professionally seeing out the remaining minutes to gain maximum points for the Buddies.
