Brechin collected their first victory of the season despite playing the final 16 minutes with 10 men. Darren Smith crossed for Steven Hampshire to control the ball and prod a shot home after 20 minutes. The ex Dunfermline striker Hampshire scored his second after 55 minutes.
Craig Winter was sent off for a second booking in the 74th minute but it was Brechin who further strectched their lead when a Brechin trialist striker (Chris Geddes) scored following a Gary Bollan free-kick, three minutes from the end.
Craig Bryson netted from close-range following a goalmouth scramble in the final minute. The Bully Wee will point to an early disallowed goal by Joe Miller that was controversially ruled offside and other chances that went astray but fans could not deny that Brechin deserved their victory by virtue of the fact they got the ball in the net.
